Fatal Mower County, Minn. crash death of Kent Joel Shultz – Obituary
Kent Joel Shultz, 61, of Osage, Iowa, was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 in southeast Minnesota Thursday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Shultz was a passenger in a Subaru SUV that had stalled after hitting a deer about a mile east of Austin. The stopped vehicle was struck by a westbound Nissan SUV driven by 36-year-old Amanda Rebecca Dunlap of Austin. The driver of the Subaru, 60-year-old Sarah Jean Shultz of Osage, was taken to an Austin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shultz was pronounced dead at the scene. All occupants were wearing seatbelts, and authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Emergency crews from the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and Rose Creek Fire Department responded to the incident.
