Delaware State Police have confirmed that 19-year-old Unique Williams, a resident of Newark, lost her life following a serious collision on Interstate 95 close to Arden.

According to investigators, Williams had been driving a Chrysler 200 south on the highway at about 9 p.m. on February 20 when her vehicle crossed over the grassy median. Her car then struck a Volvo tractor-trailer carrying automobiles in a direct head-on crash just south of Harvey Road.

Authorities said the impact threw Williams from her vehicle. She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died from the injuries she sustained. Officials also noted that she had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The truck driver, a 34-year-old man from New York, survived the incident and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
