Fatal Memphis, Tennessee shooting death of Coriuan Bean – Obituary

A 17-year-old Millington High School student lost his life after gunfire erupted at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis during an informal gathering that drew a large crowd of teenagers.

Authorities said the incident happened Tuesday afternoon when emergency calls reported shots fired at the park. Officers arrived to find one teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the gathering involved close to 200 students attending an unsanctioned “senior skip day” event with no adult supervision present. Officials noted the park had no prior notice of the large student meetup.

Family friends identified the victim as Coriuan Bean, a junior at Millington High School. A local church connected to his family shared public condolences, describing the loss as deeply affecting the congregation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that no arrests have been made so far. They have urged the individual responsible to come forward. Evidence recovered at the scene includes shell casings, and investigators are still working to determine whether more than one firearm was involved in the shooting.
