Jacob Raul Palencia, a 31-year-old man from Surrey, has been identified as the victim of a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred on the Alex Fraser Bridge.
Authorities say the collision happened around 10 p.m. on April 11 on the northbound side of the bridge. Police reported that Palencia was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a semi-truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation, and officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or captured dashcam footage in the area between 9:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. to come forward.
Palencia’s family shared their grief in a message, describing him as a deeply loved son, brother, and friend who made a lasting impact on those around him. They highlighted his passion for cars and the strong connections he built within the automotive community.
Friends and fellow car enthusiasts are organizing memorial gatherings in his honor, including a meet-up in Abbotsford and a planned cruise procession from New Westminster to Surrey.
A fundraising campaign has also been created by the family to assist with expenses during this difficult time, as loved ones continue to mourn his sudden loss.
