Fatal Lincoln car crash death of Shawn Schropfer

Lincoln authorities confirmed the identity of the person struck and killed early Tuesday morning. The collision happened close to Northwest 22nd and West O streets at about 5:45 a.m.

Investigators revealed that a Lincoln man, identified as the 52-year-old Shawn Schropfer, was crossing O Street against oncoming traffic when he was struck by a Ford F-150 truck. Schropfer was rushed to a regional medical facility, but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

According to the investigating team, substance use including drugs, alcohol, or excessive speed was not considered a contributing factor to the accident. The Lincoln crash investigation remains active.
