Fatal Wales, Maine motorcycle crash death of Steven A. Caouette – Obituary
A 51-year-old man from Litchfield lost his life after a motorcycle accident in Wales, according to local authorities.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Steven A. Caouette. Emergency crews were dispatched around 6 p.m. Wednesday following a 911 report of a crash along Route 197, also known as Litchfield Road.
When first responders arrived, they found that Caouette had been thrown from his motorcycle during the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Caouette had been traveling toward Litchfield when he was unable to navigate a curve in the road. His motorcycle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The force of the impact caused the pole to snap and fall across the road, temporarily blocking traffic along Route 197.
Multiple emergency agencies responded, including the Wales Fire Department, Sabattus Fire and Police, and United Ambulance Service.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash, with a detective assisting in reconstructing the events leading up to the incident.
