A teenage driver from Clyde, Jaiden Zimmerman, was killed Friday morning following a collision involving a tractor-trailer in Seneca County.
Authorities said the 16-year-old was traveling south on State Route 414 in Tyre around 8:55 a.m. when his SUV drifted across the center line on a gentle curve in the road. An oncoming tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the vehicle and braked in an effort to prevent impact, but the two vehicles still collided.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that Jaiden Zimmerman died from his injuries at the location of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the SUV crossing into the opposite lane.
