Authorities in Norwich have confirmed the death of a 25-year-old man following a collision between a dirt bike and a passenger vehicle on Sunday afternoon.
Police said emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls shortly after 4 p.m. reporting a serious crash along Taftville-Occum Road involving a motorcycle and a car. When officers arrived, they discovered that a dirt bike and a vehicle had collided in the area.
The rider, identified as Dale Lucier of Jewett City, was rushed to Backus Hospital after suffering severe injuries. Despite medical intervention, he was later pronounced dead at the facility.
Investigators reported that the driver of the car remained at the scene following the incident and was not physically harmed. Officials added that the motorist has been cooperating with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
Norwich Police confirmed that their accident reconstruction unit is continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the crash.
